As countries around the world close their borders and the United States places large swaths of its population under lockdown, it’s reasonable to ask what on earth we’re doing talking about travel. Why would anyone be interested in reading about safaris or wine country or the best new restaurants in Prague?
Right now, it must be said that the Hideaway Report is a luxury, not a necessity. But couldn’t we all use a vision of a happier future? I’m in desperate need of diversion from the news. And I want to dream about where I’ll travel once this upsetting and uncertain period is over.
I know that I’m not alone in these feelings. And so we will continue to write about travel and to communicate our passion for the beauty of the world. We understand that our reviews aren’t of any immediate practical use, but the coronavirus outbreak will pass, sooner rather than later we hope, and once again thoughts will turn to palm-fringed shores and far-flung lands. At that point, we trust that our content — unbiased recommendations based on anonymous hotel stays and restaurant visits — will be a valuable source of information and inspiration once more.
In the meantime, we look forward to sharing our discoveries from trips we took before the crisis began, and we hope that they light a spark within you. Have a look at the most recent articles on our website, enriched by numerous photographs we took ourselves, and give yourself a moment of escape. We are all armchair travelers right now. But we remain travelers nonetheless.
At this moment of trial for the whole travel industry, we value greatly your understanding and continued support. Above all, stay safe and healthy during these unprecedented times.
