Le Carl Gustaf Reopens

In addition to its roster of glamorous beachfront resorts, St. Barths boasts a luxury hotel unlike any other in the Caribbean. Set on a steep hillside and surrounded by gardens in the middle of the island’s capital, Gustavia, the Hôtel Barrière Le Carl Gustaf overlooks the famously picturesque harbor and its moored superyachts. On a sunny day, there are few prettier views anywhere in the world. Acquired by the French Groupe Lucien Barrière in 2017, the property of 23 rooms and suites has now been completely refurbished by the Parisian design firm Gilles & Boissier and is scheduled to reopen in December.

The Fouquet’s Saint-Barth restaurant will be under the supervision of Michelin three-star chef Pierre Gagnaire. Despite being in the center of town, within strolling distance of its boutiques and bistros, Le Carl Gustaf is located just a five-minute walk from the town’s celebrated white-sand Shell Beach. There, the hotel’s second restaurant, Shellona, will offer Mediterranean- and Caribbean-inspired dishes created by well-known Greek chef Yiannis Kioroglou.
