Loire Valley Hotel Debut

One of our favorite resorts in the Bordeaux region, Les Sources de Caudalie, opened a sister property in the Loire Valley in September 2020. A bit farther east than our other recommendations in the region, Les Sources de Cheverny comprises 49 rooms divided among a small 18th-century château and various historic outbuildings. Rather than the expected palatial décor, the resort has chosen to blend midcentury-modern furnishings with period architectural details, eschewing overt opulence in favor of casual luxury.

Its gourmet restaurant has an open kitchen with a focus on grilling and roasting, and a wine bar occupies the estate’s former wine storage room. Like Les Sources de Caudalie, this property also has a spa with thermal baths and vinotherapy-based treatments (the Loire Valley is as famous for its wine as it is for its splendid châteaux). Assuming its service and accommodations live up to the example set by its sibling in Bordeaux, Les Sources de Cheverny promises to be a fine addition to an already impressive selection of château hotels in the Loire.
