A Newly Recommended Hotel in Tennessee

For many years, Blackberry Farm in East Tennessee has been a favorite of Hideaway Report members, so it was only natural for our editor to book a stay at the adjacent property, Blackberry Mountain, shortly after it opened. No surprise, he came away completely enamored.

Blackberry Mountain

The younger sister to Blackberry Farm, this superlative new property is a 20-minute drive on a 5,200-acre estate, more than half of which has been set aside for conservation. With a very different personality to its sibling, Blackberry Mountain is a contemporary resort, where the emphasis is on exercise and wellness, and the global cuisine is health-conscious.

The 28 accommodations range from ridgetop cabins to multibedroom homes. Stylish cottages come with log fireplaces and lavish baths with heated floors. Activities include hiking, climbing, mountain biking and sporting clays. In addition to dedicated spin and Pilates studios, there are creekside meditation classes and aerial yoga sessions in the surrounding forest. A dramatic spa offers a tranquility lounge, a sauna, steam showers, a year-round heated pool and eight treatment rooms. Fly-fishing, horseback-riding, kayaking, biking and hiking excursions can be arranged.

From the editor: “Despite having been open for only a few months at the time of our stay, our experience at Blackberry Mountain was virtually flawless.”
