Where Members Are Booking Now

.article-cta-top

Andrew Harper members — just like everyone else who has been cooped up at home over the last few months — are itching to travel. Many of them, in fact, are already planning their next trips. From coastal retreats on expansive beaches to inviting ranches in wide-open valleys, these are the hotels and resorts our members have recently booked. And because your health is a priority, we are highlighting the precautions each is taking due to Covid-19. We’re happy to report that all of these properties are going above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and, above all, safe.

The Resort at Paws Up

Montana

The Resort at Paws Up says it is “as open as ever.” This Montana resort never closed, but not because the owners didn’t take the pandemic seriously. The property’s 37,000 acres and 10 miles of the Blackfoot River demanded attention — along with the animals that were born during birthing season.

Boasting 28 vacation homes and 36 luxury safari-style tents spread across the vast acreage, guests can feel safely secluded here in Big Sky Country. A month before your visit, your personal concierge will reach out to schedule your itinerary. Besides access to the spa, there are more than 70 outdoor activities to choose from, from cattle drives and ATV rides to canoeing, fly-fishing and hot-air ballooning, as well as special events with guest chefs, sommeliers and musicians.

In August, Paws Up will open a new adults-only resort called the Green O, featuring 12 Haus accommodations deep in the pine forest at the edge of the ranch.

Covid-19 Precautions: Guests can enjoy a completely private stay from arrival to departure. The property will deliver a Lexus SUV to the airport and guests can follow a driver back to Paws Up (unless they want to ride together). Restaurants and the spa are now at 50% capacity per state law. Activities are conducted privately for families, and there is an array of outdoor eating options. Read the full policy here.

This premier culinary destination is tucked into the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains on 4,200 pastoral acres. The country house hotel offers 68 accommodations scattered across the property, in both the Main House and individual cottages. Guests have their choice of spending time at the pool and the spa, or going fly-fishing, clay shooting, horseback riding or hiking. But the pleasures of the table are the primary attraction of Blackberry Farm.

The farm’s sister property, Blackberry Mountain, opened in 2018 and bills itself as “your own private national park.” And indeed it lives up to that description. Set on 5,200 acres, it is primarily a wellness retreat that offers an array of well-organized activities, including trail running, hiking, fitness classes and art classes like pottery, basket weaving and painting. Last fall, our editor-in-chief visited Blackberry Mountain and called it “a virtually flawless hideaway” that had a program of activities that was more comprehensive and well-organized than he’d ever seen.

Covid-19 Precautions: Private transportation around the resort, hand sanitizer throughout the property, disposable masks available on request and a limit of six people at events and in fitness rooms. Read the full policy here.

Dunton Hot Springs is a meticulously restored mining town situated in a pristine valley in the San Juan Mountains. Not far from Telluride, it is a study in contrasts: The 12 log cabins and one tent, circled around the original saloon and dance hall, are rustic on the outside but sumptuously appointed inside. Activities include fly-fishing, hiking, biking and horseback riding in summer, and ice climbing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter. Guests may also soak in the warm natural springs under the stars, in a 19th-century bathhouse and in the Well House Cabin. Families are welcome, and the whole town can be booked for groups.

This summer, Dunton River Camp at Cresto Ranch, situated next to the Dolores River 4 miles from Dunton Hot Springs, will reserve its eight luxury safari-style tents exclusively for family and friends so they can enjoy the open spaces together.

Covid-19 Precautions: All staff wear protective masks at all times; chefs wear gloves and follow personal protective equipment (PPE) standards; staff wash hands every 30 minutes and are regularly reminded not to touch their face. Luggage is wiped down before handling. Read the full policy here.

They continue to meet weekly to review recommendations according to the latest information.

Per those recommendations: Staff wear masks at all times; the resort-wide door-to-door shuttle system is limited to one household per shuttle ride and drivers wear masks and thoroughly disinfect between rides.
