A Word From Our CEO: Going Back to Our Roots

In April 2017, I joined Andrew Harper as CEO. Every time I travel, I’m reminded of the important work we do, as an unbiased publisher, in uncovering and inspiring transformative travel experiences for our loyal and discerning membership community. In addition, the team and I have listened to your very helpful feedback (thank you), and we recognize the opportunities that lie ahead for us as your source for unique travel inspiration.
Over a year ago, our publications became a stand-alone business much like the original 1979 newsletter. As the focus has shifted closer to our editorial roots, we’re transitioning back to our original name, the Hideaway Report, and are actively emphasizing what you, our members, value above all else:
We will focus solely on hideaways and not larger, more well-known hotels. While our recommended properties vary in size, style and locale, discovering hideaways is the heart of what we do. And by “hideaways” we mean smaller hotels or resorts with a distinctive style and character, a tranquil atmosphere and a dedication to personal service.
We will maintain our unwavering editorial standards. Our editors travel anonymously, pay for all travel-related expenses, and review the most distinctive hotels worldwide. We are member-funded and receive no advertising or sponsorship to underwrite our travels.
We will continue to provide member travel benefits and to serve your travel-planning needs through our exclusive partner, Andrew Harper Travel, and the Alliance, both of which were acquired by Travel Leaders Group last year.
Here at the Hideaway Report, we have big plans to add features and functionality that pave the way for a more robust and interactive digital experience for our members. Right away, you’ll notice two important changes:
Our website address is now HideawayReport.com. Don’t worry, the AndrewHarper.com web address still works, but you will be redirected to HideawayReport.com. The first time you visit the new URL, you will be prompted to re-enter your password.
We have altered and improved our site’s navigation, making it easier for you to find information on destinations, hideaway hotels and experiences.
In 1979, the founding editor of the Hideaway Report set out to travel the world in search of undiscovered, tucked-away destinations. Today, his protégé, as editor-in-chief, and a diverse editorial team of four continue that legacy of traveling the world to bring you independent recommendations of the best hideaways and surrounding, special experiences.
We appreciate your enthusiasm for the Hideaway Report and our commitment to delivering the truth!
All the best,
P.S. I’m always interested in your feedback. Please feel free to email [email protected] with concerns or commentary about your Hideaway Report experience. We’ll engage with it all, take it to heart and commit to delivering to you the brand that you desire us to be.
