In the heart of California’s Central Coast, located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, lies the charming, down-to-earth town of Paso Robles. The area is home to more than 200 wineries and boasts a rich variety of restaurants to support its influx of oenophiles. To get an encompassing wine country experience, opt to head to town in May for the wine festival organized by the Paso Robles Wine Alliance or an olive oil festival hosted later in the month. Paso Robles is also conveniently located just 30 minutes from San Luis Obispo, a town renowned for its beautiful mission founded in 1772 and easily identified by its New England-style belfry and thick, stark-white adobe walls. With long, dry, hot summers and cool, sometimes rainy winters, the best times to visit the area are during its extended Autumn and beautiful spring.
