About 13 miles west of Vail, the Beaver Creek Resort is surrounded by championship golf courses, tennis courts, hiking and mountain biking trails, a riding stable and fishing streams. Beaver Creek Village, the heart of the resort and one of three "base villages" on the mountain, is full of quaint shops and galleries and upscale dining, all linked by walkways and escalators. The village, like the ski resort, has a family-friendly bent, and options for kids include a skating rink, a miniature golf course and a children's museum.
