This rustic-chic resort with nine seafront villas spaced along two sandy beaches, a central pool and a spa is set on an 86-acre private island in northeastern Mozambique. The thatch-roofed air-conditioned accommodations built of coral stone feature four-poster beds, sitting-dining areas, butler service, private decks furnished with sun loungers and daybeds, and baths with free-form tubs and mosaic showers. Rooms have open-air windows with reed shutters for privacy. The four revamped Kusi Villas include private plunge pools, and the clifftop Villa Quilalea has a small private beach alcove. Dining venues vary from villa to seaside and serve seafood and local seasonal produce. Snorkeling, kayaking among the mangroves, sunset dhow cruises, beach walks and sea turtle-watching in season are available.
