Scale of 90-100
Stylish safari lodge within the remote Selous Game Reserve, a vast wilderness designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1982. Twelve extremely spacious semi-tented villas set along the Great Ruaha River feature private outdoor decks with plunge pools, daybeds, loungers and rainfall rock showers, separate dressing areas and generous baths; all come with butlers. The exclusive Villa Twiga at the eastern end of the property is the most spacious. Public spaces include a formal dining area offering three- and four-course menus, an attractive lounge and a main swimming pool. Activities include early-morning and evening game drives, (lion, leopard and wild dog are often sighted), guided walking safaris, birding and fishing; in-room spa treatments can be arranged. No children under age 6. Closed April and May.
The comfortable, well-appointed villas; the friendly and able staff; the excellent food; the sense of being in an extremely remote lodge, surrounded by a vast area of untouched wilderness.
Inevitably, in densely wooded areas wildlife sightings are restricted.
