A scenic 45-minute drive from Queenstown, this splendid sanctuary stands along the shores of Lake Wakatipu with a majestic backdrop of jagged peaks. Handsome lake-view rooms in the lodge, 700-square-foot Chalets, a four-suite villa and a self-contained four-bedroom residence make up the 12 accommodations. The stone-and-timber main lodge, which includes a wood-paneled bar, is dominated by an atmospheric Great Room with massive rock fireplaces, beamed ceilings and towering picture windows. Excellent meals are served in a formal dining room or on a sunset-facing terrace. The property also encompasses a small gym, an outdoor lap pool (open November-April), a hot tub and a spa suite. The opportunities for fishing here are virtually limitless. Mountain biking, kayaking and heli-skiing can also be arranged. Children under the age of 10 are not permitted in the main lodge or Chalets.
