Carneros Resort and Spa

Editor Rating
Scale of 90-100

Located on the border of Napa and Sonoma counties, this beautiful, bucolic resort is set amid a landscape of yellow and purple wildflowers, towering palm trees and green pastures. The 86 quaint, stand-alone cottages are clustered into micro-neighborhoods that are all connected via a series of lush garden paths. The unpretentious cottage interiors feature a rustic-chic farmhouse décor with cherry wood floors, concrete fireplaces and vaulted ceilings. The in-room wine dispensers are a newly added convenience. Vineyard View Cottages also come with private decks furnished with loungers positioned under gas fireplaces, fire pits and outdoor showers. Rooms #1, #2 or #10 in the Madrone and Juniper cottage neighborhoods are especially recommended. Three on-site restaurants include roadhouse-style Boon Fly Café for casual fare, FARM serving elevated multicourse meals and a guests-only hilltop restaurant set beside the sophisticated, full-service spa. Other amenities include a magnificent pool and hot tub that overlook seemingly endless rows of open fields and vineyards and a separate kids’ pool adjacent to a 3,000-square-foot fitness center.
