Dunton Hot Springs

Editor Rating
Scale of 90-100

This meticulously restored mining town resort is situated in a pristine valley close to Telluride. Each of the 12 original hand-hewn wood cabins is individually decorated: Dolores has a painted wedding bed from Rajasthan, while Vertical Log features a spectacular Native American robe hanging on a wall. Well House is augmented by a private indoor plunge pool fed by spring water and a woodburning stove. There is also one tented accommodation with a gas stove. At the heart of the property, the Saloon is a convivial gathering spot for drinks and outstanding meals. Guests may soak in the 106-degree natural springs. The property also has a spa, library and yoga studio offering private guided sessions. Activities include fly-fishing, hiking, biking and horseback riding in summer and ice climbing, snowshoeing, dog sledding and skiing in winter. Families are welcome, and the whole town can be booked for groups.
