Small, secluded hotel, run by husband-and-wife team Peter and Bobbie Martin, located a 50-minute drive west of Nelson. Set amid 50 acres of grounds and landscaped gardens, the property comprises a separate garden cottage and two spacious suites in the main house. The two-bedroom cottage features a peaceful living room with décor in an English country house style, an outdoor deck and two baths. Common spaces include a dining room, library, sitting room, artists’ studio and outdoor courtyards. Activities include boating, kayaking and hiking in the nearby Abel Tasman National Park; also wine tasting in the Nelson Tasman wine region. The Motueka River, a famous trout stream, is within a five-minute drive; helicopter trips to the remote Karamea River can be arranged.
