Small, secluded hotel, run by husband-and-wife team Peter and Bobbie Martin, located a 50-minute drive west of Nelson. Set amid 50 acres of grounds and landscaped gardens, the property comprises two cottages and the new Edenhouse Suite which combined two spacious suites in the main house to create a 1,280-square-foot suite that encompasses one bedroom, a walk-in closet, a kitchenette, a large sitting area and a scenic veranda. The two-bedroom Garden Cottage features a peaceful living room with an English country house style décor, an outdoor deck and two baths. The new Folly cottage features a sitting room, dressing area, private veranda and separate water garden. Common spaces include a dining room, library, sitting room, artists’ studio and outdoor courtyards. Activities include boating, kayaking and hiking in the nearby Abel Tasman National Park; also wine tasting in the Nelson Tasman wine region. The Motueka River, a famous trout stream, is within a five-minute drive; helicopter trips to the remote Karamea River can be arranged.
