Discreetly located in the little-known Sonoma Valley hamlet of Glen Ellen, this property is nestled within Zen-like gardens comprising towering bamboos, manicured rock gardens and miniature pagodas. The 23 guest rooms have been decorated in a traditional Japanese style with a minimalist design, streamlined furnishings and a neutral color palette. Stunning in their simplicity, Zen Suites are augmented by oversize tubs carved from granite that look out to private rock gardens. Rooms in the main mansion should be avoided, as they are smaller and less intimate. The property also has a secluded pool, hot tub, small spa room and meditation barn. Day passes to a nearby health club are available upon request. Though the hotel lacks a restaurant, a breakfast buffet and an afternoon picnic box stocked with wine and cheese are offered. Excellent dining options are found within walking distance.
