This subtly luxurious 53-room boutique property, located in the heart of Copenhagen, occupies converted townhouses on a street adjacent to the Royal Danish Theater. Owned by former ballet dancer Alexander Kølpin, this hotel embodies a cosmopolitan style and reflects its founder’s travels around the world. Rooms range from compact to expansive and feature a midcentury-modern Danish design that has been imaginatively and successfully combined with neocolonial rattan furniture. The spacious Sanders Suite features lounging and dining areas, an open fireplace, heavy wooden doors and a kitchenette. Public areas include an atmospheric cocktail bar and an exceptionally stylish lounge with bookshelves, subdued colors and a fireplace that combine to create a peaceful and civilized environment. Though the hotel lacks a spa, gym and pool, it does boast an excellent casual-chic restaurant, which extends into a serene garden courtyard to the rear and spills out onto the sidewalk in the front.
