Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle De France
Scale of 90-100
Due to a devastating hurricane last year, this elegant beachfront resort set along the white sands of Anse des Flamands in the northwestern corner of the island closed for renovations. The reopening on December 1, 2018 revealed a striking new design spearheaded by interior designer Jacques Granges. A new kid's club, two restaurants, an open-facing garden and over a dozen rooms and suites have been added. Forty spacious guest quarters are housed in the whitewashed plantation-style Main House (request Beach Room 7, 8 or 9 or Beach Junior Suite 1 or 3), plus less desirable bungalows set in the parklike grounds and lacking sea views. All units feature marble baths with separate shower stalls and private terraces with rattan furnishings. Visually appealing public areas include a vaulted lobby and elegant indoor-outdoor restaurant serving locally inspired modern French cuisine. Seaside and garden pools, lighted tennis court, fitness center and Guerlain garden spa with four treatment rooms. Seasonally closed September to mid-October.
