The Jefferson Hotel

Editor Rating
Scale of 90-100

Opened in 1895, this palatial downtown hotel (listed on the National Register of Historic Places under the Historic Hotels distinction) is considered one of the finest examples of the Beaux Arts style in existence and blends Old World charm with warmhearted service. The stately Palm Court lobby with its imposing marble statue of Thomas Jefferson sweeps down a grand staircase to a magnificent skylit rotunda lobby supported by 70-foot marble columns adorned with gold leaf. The 181 handsome rooms feature entry foyers with high ceilings, dark wood furnishings and locally inspired artwork. Elegant Lemaire, helmed by chef Patrick Willis, serves a classic American menu with Southern influences, and a popular Champagne brunch is offered in the Rotunda on Sundays. Other amenities include a fitness center, a hair salon, massage treatment rooms and an indoor pool with a vaulted ceiling.

Note: The Champagne brunch is suspended through 2022.
