Classic lakefront hotel set into a scenic hillside affording lovely views of Whiteface Mountain. The well-designed Adirondack interior has wood floors, stone fireplaces, regional “twig” furniture and Hudson River School paintings. Five rooms and six suites occupy the main lodge and an adjoining building; also 17 lakeside cabins and two cottages. A typical cabin features beamed ceilings, wood-paneled walls, stone fireplaces, handcrafted furnishings, custom-made beds, original art and picture windows with views of Lake Placid. Intimate Artisans for seasonal New American cuisine; also the more casual Maggie’s Pub. Skiing, dog sledding, ice fishing and snowshoeing during winter; kayaking, horseback riding and fishing during summer. Family-friendly property, but no children under age 12 permitted in Main Lodge.
