Scale of 90-100
Overlooking Positano’s colorful harbor, this exceptionally glamorous family-owned hotel is built around an 18th-century villa. Conveying the atmosphere of a grand private house, the interior is decorated with antique furnishings and fine paintings. The best of the 58 lodgings occupy the higher floors (especially the seventh) and feature balconies and stunning hand-painted tile floors. Avoid the small Inner Courtyard Rooms. Public areas include Franco’s Bar, a seasonal Champagne bar and a fine Michelin one-star dining room, illuminated each evening with hundreds of candles. There is also a spa, a narrow outdoor pool and a wooden boat available for excursions. The property is closed from November to mid-March and does not allow children under age 6.
