The Mark

Editor Rating
Scale of 90-100

This Upper East Side boutique hotel is housed within a 1927 landmark building and underwent a flamboyant makeover by French designer Jacques Grange. Public areas combine Old World style with avant-garde design. The 153 guest rooms and suites feature custom furnishings, black-granite bars with Sub-Zero drawers and black-and-white art deco-inspired marble baths. The Mark Restaurant, directed by celebrated chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, serves a contemporary European menu and features a fresh-seafood bar. Amenities include a 1,400-square-foot fully equipped fitness center with a staff of personal trainers, a hair salon by Frédéric Fekkai and a trendy bar. A fleet of custom bicycles are available to rent and can be paired with a “lunch-to-go” picnic created by chef Vongerichten. The hotel’s private 70-foot Herreshoff sailboat is also available for private charters.
