Scale of 90-100
This strikingly contemporary and plush 23-room eco-resort is set on 3,000 private acres of cloud forest surrounded by an additional 42,000-acre reserve. Renovated by interior designer Julio Vinueza, the 20 Wayra Rooms are small but intelligently designed, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the jungle. Three Yaku Suites add soaking tubs with forest views. Excellent lunch buffets and à la carte dinners are served in the dramatic dining room, which features two-story glass walls. The bar serves exotic cocktails concocted with Mashpi and its surrounding forest in mind. Amenities include two spa areas with a Jacuzzi and a yoga deck. Superlative naturalist guides lead educational talks in the new Expedition Room and head a range of memorable excursions, including waterfall hikes, visits to a butterfly house and rides through the jungle canopy on the “Sky Bike” or the open-air aerial tram. World-class bird-watching is also available.

The pristine environment; our good-humored and knowledgeable guide; the superlative birding; the delicious food; the stylish contemporary design.
