Mombo Camp & Little Mombo Camp

Editor Rating
Scale of 90-100

Situated near the northwest tip of Chief’s Island, this lavish enclave faces a floodplain in an area teeming with wildlife (including a large leopard population). More than 400 species of birds have been recorded in the region around the camps, and the Botswana Rhino Reintroduction Project takes place at Little Mombo. The two facilities are connected by elevated walkways: Mombo, with eight stylish guest quarters in the Mombo Concession, and Little Mombo, with four on Mombo Island. Raised on stilts, the spacious, fan-cooled tented suites have hardwood floors and verandas with private plunge pools. A series of thatched pavilions at Mombo Camp incorporate open-air dining and bar facilities, a well-stocked library, a gym and two pools. Spa treatments and helicopter tours are available by request. Little Mombo, which is favored by families or friends traveling together because of its intimacy, also possesses its own dining area, a pool and a gym that looks out over the plains.
