Evocative Queen Anne manor amid century-old estate gardens, 25 minutes outside of Christchurch. Magnificently appointed public areas contain a richly paneled dining room, library and guest lounge. Five elegant suites and two master suites retain original architectural features such as ornate fireplaces, carved inglenooks and stained-glass windows. The most glamorous accommodation, The Verandah Suite, has a large private arched balcony and woodburning fireplace. Five-course chef’s tasting menu incorporates local ingredients from extensive estate gardens and orchards. Hard-surface tennis court, croquet, massage room, Jacuzzi, outdoor pool (open November through March), small gym, cooking classes and horseback riding. Also fly-fishing, wine tasting, heli-touring, biking and golf. No children under age 12.
