Peter Island Resort & Spa
Scale of 90-100
Romantic resort on a private island south of Tortola. The dramatic 1,800-acre mountainous islet is fringed by five white-sand beaches. Fifty-two guest lodgings include 32 Ocean View Rooms housed in A-frame chalets adjacent to the main restaurant and infinity pool. The most desirable lodgings are the Beach Front Junior Suites nestled among palms at one end of a mile-long crescent of sand. Accented with mahogany beams and stone, the 20 units (no TVs) feature covered verandas, plus baths with oversize showers and Jacuzzi tubs for two. Three villas also available. Asian-Caribbean cuisine is served at Tradewinds. Snorkeling in protected coves, scuba diving excursions and yacht cruises; impressive 10,000-square-foot seaside spa.

Note: Property closed until the end of 2019 due to severe exterior and structural damage caused by hurricanes.
The resort never seems crowded, as it spreads over a wide area; fine white-sand beaches.
The slightly inconvenient walk from the beach to the main restaurant and pool.
