The Resort at Pelican Hill
Scale of 90-100
Lavish and well-managed, this resort is set on 504 acres 50 miles south of Los Angeles, in the hills overlooking the Pacific between Newport Beach and Laguna Beach. The property showcases an Italian-inspired style with a circular courtyard, ochre-hued walls, graceful arches and a tiled roof. The 204 bungalow rooms and suites, about half with sea views, provide living-dining areas, limestone fireplaces, terraces and spacious baths with granite counters, walk-in showers and soaking tubs. Also, 128 villas offer two-, three- or four-bedroom configurations with full kitchens and butler service. Six dining options include the formal Andrea Ristorante for Northern Italian cuisine and Pelican Grill for a classic California dining experience. Amenities include a stunning, perfectly circular mosaic glass-tile pool, a spa with 22 treatment rooms and a kids’ club. Golf is available at two Tom Fazio championship courses and the nearby Oak Creek Golf Club.
