Located in a small mountain village at the foot of the 11th-century Tarasp Castle, this enchanting country house hotel occupies a 500-year-old farmhouse that has been owned by the Pazeller family for 21 generations. Converted into a hotel in 1912, it is a dignified stuccoed building, with stenciled decoration and a sloping wooden roof in the traditional Alpine style. The 18 lodgings feature local-pine paneling and Alpine-style furnishings. Some are augmented by terraces, fireplaces and living rooms. Superior Rooms are charming but rather small, so opt for a Junior Suite or better. Amenities include an intimate dining room offering local delicacies and an extensive wine menu, plus a compact spa encompassing a four unique saunas and a steam bath. Horseback riding, golf, fishing, sailing, skiing and snowshoeing can be arranged. This property is closed from April to June and mid-October through mid-December.
