Set amid magnificent terraced gardens that overlook the Marina di Tropea, this handsome clifftop villa was created from a 16th-century convent. Inviting public spaces are tastefully appointed with a mix of antique and contemporary furniture, well-stocked bookshelves and stylish artwork and give the property the aura of a private home owned by a cultivated Italian family. Most of the 11 guest lodgings come with striped headboards, velvet seating units, white walls, high ceilings and private balconies or terraces. The Hammam Suite is augmented by a separate living area and a mosaic hammam. Extensive orchards and gardens supply the villa’s restaurant, which serves breakfast in a dining room or on a terrace offering views of the sea and Tropea’s distinctive fortress. (Dinner is available only by advance request, and the food is simple but well-prepared.) The hotel also encompasses an infinity pool offering spectacular sea views and a solarium terrace. Private yacht excursions along the Costa degli Dei can be arranged, and day passes at the nearby Capovaticano Resort Thalasso & Spa are available upon request. Additionally, guided snorkeling and wreck-diving excursions, plus windsurfing lessons and tennis, are offered at the nearby Baia del Sole resort. Guests under the age of 18 are not permitted.
