Restored 1886 mansion-hotel in a tranquil setting at the edge of Charleston’s historic district. Lavish interior features an array of well-preserved Victorian details, including handcarved marble fireplaces, Tiffany stained-glass windows, Morris-style wallpaper, polychrome tiled floors, oak wainscoting and high ceilings embellished with intricate plasterwork and crystal chandeliers. The 21 spacious rooms and suites feature wood floors, heavy velvet drapes and charming decorative hardware; many have gas fireplaces, private patios and baths with whirlpool tubs and walk-in showers. Excellent restaurant, Circa 1886, serves classic Lowcountry dishes that employ local and seasonal ingredients.
